On October 29th, 2018, 3D4MED was inaugurated at Fondazione I.R.C.C.S. Policlinico San Matteo of Pavia.
3D4MED is the first 3D printing clinical laboratory in Italy; it is equipped with different 3D printing technologies able to create patient-specific anatomical models for surgical planning, training and simulation, and to develop patient-specific instrumentation and innovative prototypes.
The laboratory was born from the collaboration between the group of Computational Mechanics and Advanced Materials, coordinated by Prof. Ferdinando Auricchio, Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Pavia, and the Unit of General Surgery II of the Policlinico San Matteo, directed by Prof. Andrea Pietrabissa.
3D4MED team is formed by: Eng. Stefania Marconi, who directs and supervises all the laboratory activities, Eng. Valeria Mauri and Eng. Erika Negrello.

New Course on “Virtual Modeling and Additive Manufacturing”
A new edition of the course “Virtual Modeling & Additive Manufacturing” started yesterday October 24th 2018 at the Collegio Borromeo of Pavia.
The course is organized by the Collegio Borromeo, the University of Pavia, and the Ordine degli Ingegneri della Provincia di Pavia.
During the first lesson, Prof. Ferdinando Auricchio, supervisor of the course, gave a lecture on “Introduction to the additive technologies”.
