Vascular Surgery Department of the Policlinico San Matteo joined the 3D printing project run in collaboration with the University of Pavia, and in particular with the Proto-Lab directed by Prof. Ferdinando Auricchio. Over the last year, 20 cases of complex aortic diseases were investigated thanks to the 3D printed anatomic models, and this is the largest case study of Europe.
Based on the CT SCAN, a model that accurately reproduces the patient’s situation is 3D printed, and this helps doctors to practice before surgery. It this way, surgery time is reduced, as well as difficulties that may arise.
